How it all work?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What happens if something is damaged on delivery?
We all understand this problem and it is part and parcel of selling online. If you have regularly sent goods out via Couriers you will know that trying to get them to accept responsibility for damages is impossible. If you are just starting selling online, believe me, the key to cutting down on damages is you need to purchase good quality packaging. We have our own air cushion machines and 9 different sizes of cushions including corner ones. We buy polystyrene sheets (120cm x 60cm) by the pallet load and have the tools to cut them to size. Our boxes are double walled and we have 21 different sizes. Bubble wrap is made by Jiffy and is the large size bubble, not the cheap stuff you can buy on Ebay. Double walled cardboard sheets are used if we need to make very large boxes and a professional grade glue gun is used. You are more than welcome to visit our warehouse and see for yourself our packaging department. All this information is given to you so you understand that proper packaging will dramatically cut down on damages and we would say that it would be nigh impossible for the average on line seller to be able to package items as well as we do. After all that, damages still occur and unfortunately we will NOT be held responsible. Once the item is collected from us by the courier for delivery to your customer ALL RISK PASSES TO YOURSELF.
Please remember that if you had organised delivery yourself you would have had to cover the full cost. The posting of glass / ceramic / mirrors / mirrored furniture is not recommended.
Do you charge a membership fee? If so, why?
Yes we do.
Why? Very simple. We do not have a minimum order. If you wish us to dropship a small ornament with a cost price of £3, we will do. However if we were to give out passwords on our website this would allow anybody to access our suppliers and find out the cost price of around 3000 items. We have no way of knowing whether you are a trader or simply Joe Public looking to buy something at cost price for his mother, family, friend or stranger in the pub and we could end up with lots of people buying " one offs ". If you are looking to start a dropship business the membership fee is simply part of your setting up costs. It is the same reason why the suppliers have a initial minimum order of around £400. If you apply to the supplier for access to his website he will do checks to ensure you are a trader knowing if you are not genuine, you will initially have to spend a reasonable amount with them.
I am not registered with Hill Interiors, can I still join?
Yes, Simply join online. We will then send you a "Welcome Pack " with all relevant details. If you have any questions before joining just send us an email, or telephone us. You will deal direct with us and have no contact with the supplier.
How long have you been trading? We started trading with Hill Interiors in October 2012. From a small beginning where we had to collect the stock ourselves from Hills we are now in the situation of receiving 1,2,3,4 or more pallets every day from them.
How does Dropship make a profit? We charge 20% on top of the Hills cost price. So if the item has a cost price of £50 you will be invoiced £60. All our Prices are subject to VAT.
I spend quite a lot with Hill Interiors, can I still buy from them?
Of course you can. You use our services only when it is right for you. If you have a special order for a shop customer who wants it quickly, that's fine - we will dispatch it to your shop or customers home. If its something you have sold online, we will dispatch straight to your customer.
Do you check the stock for damage when you collect from the suppliers?
Everything we collect from the suppliers is checked upon receipt at our warehouse. You will not be responsible for any damaged stock at this stage, it will be settled between the suppliers and ourselves. The exception is clocks and lighting. We do NOT check these to ensure they work, we only check for damages. The supplier will exchange faulted goods but all the delivery costs would be paid for by yourself. Please note we do not offer quality control, merely check there is no damage. If you have a dispute with your customer regarding quality, ie distressed or too shabby chic, that is down to yourself to sort out.
What price do I pay if the supplier reduces a line? These sales are put on by suppliers to enable you to stockpile some stock and you would have to order direct from the supplier and abide by his minimum order and carriage policy.
WE CANNOT DROPSHIP ITEMS AT THE SALE PRICE. IF YOU WISH US TO DROPSHIP DURING THE SALE YOU MUST PAY THE NORMAL PRICE. IF YOU WANT THE SALE PRICE YOU MUST BUY DIRECT FROM THE SUPPLIER
Under the legal cooling off period, what if my customer wants to return the goods? We can organize the collection for you to be delivered back to your address. You would be responsible for paying us and claim the cost back from your customer. You can of course organise it yourself if you so wish. Neither the supplier nor ourselves would accept the product as a return.
What happens if I pay you and the product is not in stock? Always make sure the suppliers website is showing the item in stock before ordering from us. Orders are not placed with the Supplier until your Invoice is paid in Full.
We will put the item on back order for you if the product has gone out of stock when we place the order.
Whilst the suppliers websites are generally accurate, stock levels can change very quickly which sometimes leads to a product showing as in stock (when ordering) actually being out of stock when the order is placed.
What happens if Dropship send out the wrong item? Mistakes do happen. We would hold our hands up, apologize to you and the customer, arrange collection, send out the correct item and shoot the packer. All this of course if on your order form to us you have filled in the correct model number.
If the mistake is down to you there will be a collection charge and it would be returned to yourself.
